  1. Raise and safely support vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheels and the brake drums.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the flare nut and the brake tube from the wheel cylinder, then plug the line to prevent dirt from entering the system.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake shoes from the backing plate.
  8.  
  9. Remove the wheel cylinder-to-backing plate bolts and the wheel cylinders.
  10.  

If the wheel cylinder is difficult to remove, bump it with a soft hammer to release it from the backing plate.

To install:
  1. Install the wheel cylinder assembly to the backing plate. Tighten the wheel cylinder-to-backing plate bolts.
  2.  
  3. Connect the brake line(s) and install the rear brake shoes.
  4.  
  5. Install the brake drum.
  6.  
  7. Bleed the brake system.
  8.  
  9. Adjust the rear brakes as necessary.
  10.
