REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

VG30E Engine

See Figures 1 and 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.

To make removing the exhaust manifolds easier, soaking the exhaust pipe retaining bolts with penetrating oil is recommended.

  1. Disconnect the exhaust pipes from the exhaust manifolds.
  2.
  3. Remove both exhaust manifolds-to-engine bolts, in sequence. Discard the gaskets.

To install:
  1. Clean all gasket mounting surfaces. Install new gaskets.
  2.
  3. Install the exhaust manifolds to the engine and torque the exhaust manifold-to-engine bolts, alternately in 2 stages, in the exact reverse order of removal to 13-16 ft. lbs. (16-22 Nm).
  4.
  5. Install the exhaust pipes to the manifolds.
  6.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
  8.
