REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

CAUTION
The air bag system (SRS or SIR) must be disarmed before removing the combination switch. Failure to do so may cause accidental deployment, property damage, or personal injury.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the steering wheel. Observe the caution on the collapsible steering column.
  4.  
  5. Remove the steering column covers.
  6.  
  7. Using a drill, drill the heads from the steering lock-to-steering shaft clamp screws.
  8.  
  9. Unplug the electrical harness connector and remove the steering lock from the vehicle.
  10.

  1. Install the steering lock cylinder in the proper position.
  2.  
  3. Using new shear screws, install and tighten them until the heads break off.
  4.  
  5. Connect the steering lock electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. On airbag models, make sure the spiral cable is aligned. Install the steering column covers and steering wheel.
  8.  
  9. Reconnect the battery cable. Turn key to the ON position and check system for proper operation.
