  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove wheel sensor from steering knuckle.
  6.  
  7. Remove cotter pin. Then remove lock nut from halfshaft.
  8.  
  9. Remove brake hose lock plate. Then remove brake hose from strut assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove strut assembly and steering knuckle bolt and nut.
  12.  
  13. Using a puller, remove halfshaft from steering knuckle.
  14.  
  15. Remove halfshaft from transaxle.
  16.  
  17. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  18.  

Right Side
2wd Models
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove wheel sensor from steering knuckle.
  6.  
  7. Remove cotter pin. Then remove lock nut from halfshaft.
  8.  
  9. Remove brake hose lock plate. Then remove brake hose from strut assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove strut assembly and steering knuckle bolt and nut.
  12.  
  13. Using a puller, remove halfshaft from axle.
  14.  
  15. Remove support bearing bolts, and pull halfshaft from transaxle. Pry off halfshaft from transaxle.
  16.  
  17. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  18.  

AWD Models
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove wheel sensor from steering knuckle.
  6.  
  7. Remove brake hose lock plate. Then remove brake hose from strut assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove cotter pin. Then remove lock nut from halfshaft.
  10.  
  11. Remove strut assembly and steering knuckle bolt and nut.
  12.  
  13. Using a puller, remove halfshaft from knuckle.
  14.  
  15. Remove halfshaft from transaxle.
  16.  
  17. Installation is the reverse of removal.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove wheel sensor from steering knuckle.
  8.  
  9. Remove cotter pin. Then remove lock nut from halfshaft.
  10.  
  11. Remove brake hose lock plate. Then remove brake hose from strut assembly.
  12.  
  13. Remove strut assembly and steering knuckle bolt and nut.
  14.  
  15. Using a puller, remove halfshaft from steering knuckle.
    NOTE
    When removing the halfshaft, do not apply an excessive angle to the halfshaft joint. Also be careful not to excessively extend the joint.

  17. Remove halfshaft from the transaxle, using special tool KV40107500, or equivalent.
  18.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Be sure to replace the differential side oil seal.
  4.  
  5. Be sure to replace all non reusable components with new ones.
    NOTE
    In order to prevent damage to the transaxle side oil seal, first install an oil seal protector tool onto the oil seal before inserting the halfshaft. Slide the halfshaft into the slide joint and tap with a hammer, to install securely.

  6.  
  7. Be sure that the circlip is secured properly.
  8.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Be sure to replace the differential side oil seal.
  4.  
  5. Be sure to replace all non reusable components with new ones.
    NOTE

  7. Remove parking cable and parking brake shoe from back plate.
  8.  
  9. 5. Remove wheel hub and bearing assembly bolts, then remove wheel hub and bearing assembly from axle.
  10.  
  11. Use a wheel wrench or other tool to remove halfshaft from final drive.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  8.  
  9. Remove cotter pin. Then remove lock nut from halfshaft.
