Removal & Installation

  1. Use a refrigerant collecting equipment (for HFC-134a) to discharge refrigerant.
  2.  
  3. Drain coolant from cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove both right/left wiper arms.
  6.  
  7. Remove cowl top seal rubber.
  8.  
  9. Remove clips from cowl top cover (right) and remove cowl top cover (right).
  10.  
  11. Remove clips from cowl top cover (left) and remove cowl top cover (left)
  12.  
  13. Remove washer nozzles and hose from cowl top cover.
  14.  
  15. Remove cowl top cover.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect evaporator-side one-touch joints.
    1. Install a disconnector tool (High-pressure side: 92530-89908, Low pressure side: 92530-89916) on A/C piping.
    2.  
    3. Slide a disconnector toward vehicle front until it clicks.
    4.  
    5. Slide A/C piping toward vehicle front and disconnect it.
    6.

WARNING
Seal connection opening of piping with a cap or vinyl tape to avoid exposure to atmosphere.

  1. Disconnect two heater hoses from heater core.
  2.  
  3. Remove fuse lid.
  4.  
  5. Remove instrument driver lower panel screws.
  6.  
  7. Remove data link connector.
  8.  
  9. Pull to disengage metal clip by removing panel in horizontal direction.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect in-vehicle sensor and each electrical parts.
  12.  
  13. Remove bolts, and remove hood lock opener.
  14.  
  15. Remove tilt lever knob screws.
  16.  
  17. Remove the knob by picking it up and pulling it out. Using a remover, ply and remove tilt lever mask.
  18.  
  19. Remove steering column cover screws.
  20.  
  21. Disengage the tab, and remove steering column cover. After removing combination meter screws, remove harness connector.
  22.  
  23. Using a remover, pry and remove side ventilator assembly (left/right).
  24.  
  25. Disconnect aiming switch harness connector and VDC switch harness connector only left side.
  26.  
  27. Insert a remover into lower space of instrument side finisher (left/right) and remove by lifting.
  28.  
  29. Remove screws and glove box striker, disconnect connectors, and remove instrument passenger lower panel assembly.
  30.  
  31. Detach the damper from glove box right side.
  32.  
  33. Remove glove box pins, and remove glove box.
  34.  
  35. Insert a remover into lower space of center ventilator and remove by lifting.
  36.  
  37. Insert a remover into upper space of center ventilator and the upper clip is removed.
  38.  
  39. Remove screws. Disconnect harness connector, and remove tweeter with right and left part.
  40.  
  41. Insert a remover into front space of instrument stay cover (left/right) and detach.
  42.  
  43. Disconnect the left side harness connector only.
  44.  
  45. Remove cluster lid screws.
  46.  
  47. Disconnect A/C and AV harness connectors, and remove cluster lid C.
  48.  
  49. Remove display unit screws.
  50.  
  51. Disconnect harness connector and remove display.
  52.  
  53. Using a remover and disengage the ignition key finisher metal clips
  54.  
  55. Disconnect harness connector.
  56.  
  57. Using a remover, pry and remove instrument mask.
  58.  
  59. Disconnect harness connector.
  60.  
  61. Remove screw. Disengage the metal clip and remove instrument driver upper panel.
  62.  
  63. Remove bolt and screws Remove front passenger air bag module.
  64.  
  65. Disconnect metal clips, then remove instrument passenger upper panel.
  66.  
  67. Disconnect harness connector.
  68.  
  69. Pull to inside of vehicle, disconnect metal clips and remove front pillar garnish.
  70.  
  71. Remove bolts and screws, and remove instrument panel from passenger door opening portion.
  72.  
  73. Tweeter and sensor harness clip are removed from the duct.
  74.  
  75. Remove instrument panel assembly.
  76.  
  77. Remove ECM with bracket attached.
  78.  
  79. Remove nuts (2), then bolts (2) and screw (1), then remove blower unit.
  80.  


NOTE
Move blower unit to the right and remove locating pin (1) and joint. Then remove blower unit downward.

  1. Disconnect intake door motor connector and blower fan motor connector.
  2.  
  3. Remove harness clips (2) from blower unit.
  4.  
  5. Remove blower unit.
  6.  
  7. Remove clips from vehicle harness from steering member.
  8.  
  9. Remove instrument stays (driver side and passenger side).
  10.  
  11. Remove rear ventilator duct1 and front floor duct.
  12.  
  13. Remove mounting screws from heater & cooling unit.
  14.  
  15. Remove the steering member, and then remove heater & cooling unit.
  16.  
  17. Remove foot duct (right).
  18.  
  19. Remove heater core cover.
  20.  
  21. Remove heater pipe support and heater pipe grommet.
  22.  
  23. Slide heater core to passenger side.
  24.  
  25. Installation is the reverse of removal. Note the following points:

    Replace O-rings for A/C piping with new ones, coated with compressor oil.
     
    Connection point for female-side piping is thin. So, when inserting male-side piping, take care not to deform female-side piping. Slowly insert in axial direction.
     
    Insert one-touch joint connection point securely until it clicks.
     
    After piping has been connected, pull male-side piping by hand to check that piping does not come off.
     
    When recharging refrigerant, check for leaks.

NOTE
Be sure to disarm the SRS system, prior to working on the vehicle. Turn the ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery cables and wait at least three minutes before starting any work.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  3. Discharge the air conditioning system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect both battery cables.
  6.  
  7. Drain coolant from cooling system.
  8.  
  9. Remove both right/left wiper arms.
  10.  
  11. Remove cowl top seal rubber.
  12.  
  13. Remove clips from cowl top cover (right) and remove cowl top cover (right).
  14.  
  15. Remove clips from cowl top cover (left) and remove cowl top cover (left)
  16.  
  17. Remove washer nozzles and hose from cowl top cover.
  18.  
  19. Remove cowl top cover.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect evaporator-side one-touch joints.
    1. Install a disconnector tool (High-pressure side: 92530-89908, Low pressure side: 92530-89916) on A/C piping.

    3. Slide a disconnector toward vehicle front until it clicks.

  65. Disconnect the left side harness connector only.

  73. Disconnect harness connector and remove display.

  75. Using a remover and disengage the ignition key finisher metal clips

  77. Disconnect harness connector.

  79. Using a remover, pry and remove instrument mask.

  81. Disconnect harness connector.

  83. Remove screw. Disengage the metal clip and remove instrument driver upper panel.
  84.  
  85. Remove the bolt and screws and remove the front passenger air bag module.
  86.  
  87. Disconnect metal clips, then remove instrument passenger upper panel.
  88.  
  89. Disconnect harness connector.
  90.  
  91. Pull to inside of vehicle, disconnect metal clips and remove front pillar garnish.
  92.  
  93. Remove bolts and screws, and remove instrument panel from passenger door opening portion.
  94.  
  95. Tweeter and sensor harness clip are removed from the duct.
  96.  
  97. Remove instrument panel assembly.
  98.  
  99. Remove ECM with bracket attached.
  100.  
  101. Remove nuts (2), then bolts (2) and screw (1), then remove blower unit.
    NOTE
    Move blower unit to the right and remove locating pin (1) and joint. Then remove blower unit downward.

  103. Disconnect intake door motor connector and blower fan motor connector.

  105. Remove harness clips (2) from blower unit.

  109. Remove clips from vehicle harness from steering member.

  113. Remove rear ventilator duct1 and front floor duct.

  115. Remove mounting screws from heater & cooling unit.

  117. Remove the steering member, and then remove heater & cooling unit.

  119. Remove foot duct (right).

  121. Remove heater core cover.
  122.  
  123. Remove heater pipe support and heater pipe grommet.

  125. Slide heater core to passenger side.

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal. Note the following points:
