Brake Pads

Removal & Installation



  1. Remove tires from vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove sliding pin bolt (top).
  4.  
  5. Suspend cylinder body with a wire, and remove pads, pad retainers, shims from torque member.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Apply PBC (Poly Butyl Cuprysil) grease or silicon based grease to the rear of the pad and to both sides of the shim, and attach the inner shim and shim cover to the inner pad, and the outer shim and outer shim cover to the outer pad.
  2.  
  3. Attach the pad retainer and pad to the torque member.
  4.  
  5. Push the piston in so that the pad is attached and attach the cylinder body to the torque member.
  6.  
  7. Install the sliding pin bolt (one on top) and tighten to the specified torque.
  8.  
  9. Check brake for drag.
  10.  
  11. Install the tires to the vehicle.
  12.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove sliding pin bolt (top).
  6.  
  7. Suspend cylinder body with a wire, and remove pads, pad retainers, shims from torque member.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Apply PBC (Poly Butyl Cuprysil) grease or silicon based grease to the rear of the pad and to both sides of the shim, and attach the inner shim and shim cover to the inner pad, and the outer shim and outer shim cover to the outer pad.

  3. Attach the pad retainer and pad to the torque member.
  4.  
  5. Push the piston in so that the pad is attached and attach the cylinder body to the torque member.
  6.  
  7. Install the sliding pin bolt (one on top) and tighten to the specified torque.
  8.  
  9. Check brake for drag.
  10.  
  11. Install the tires.
  12.
