NOTE
Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Serious burns could occur from high-pressure engine coolant escaping from the radiator.

  1. Be sure the engine is cold.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front engine cover.
  6.  
  7. Drain the engine coolant using the radiator drain plug and the water drain plug at the front of the cylinder block. Properly disposed of used coolant.
  8.  
  9. Remove the reservoir tank retaining bolts, and move it to the side.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the lower radiator hose and the oil cooler water hose from the water inlet and thermostat assembly.
  12.  
  13. Remove the water inlet and thermostat housing retaining bolts.
  14.  
  15. Remove the assembly from the engine.
    NOTE
    Do not disassemble the water inlet and thermostat assembly. Replace them as a unit, if required.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Be sure to refill the cooling using the proper grade and type engine coolant.
  4.  
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and allow it to reach operation temperature. Recheck the coolant level, fill as required.
