Removal & Installation




CAUTION
Refer to the applicable precautions for this system before performing the following operation. Failure to follow the warnings and cautions could result in possible personal injury or death.

  1. Discharge the refrigerant from the A/C system, as outlined in this section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the coolant from the engine into a suitable container.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear RH interior trim panel.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the rear heater core hoses from the rear heater core.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the rear A/C high- and low-pressure A/C pipes from the rear expansion valve.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the following components:
    1. Rear blower motor
    2.  
    3. Rear blower motor resistor
    4.  
    5. Rear air mix door motor
    6.

  13. Disconnect the ducts from the rear heater and cooling unit assembly.
  14.  
  15. Remove the three bolts to remove the rear heater and cooling unit assembly.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the rear blower motor electrical connector.
  18.  
  19. Remove the three screws and remove the rear blower motor.

  21. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, noting the following:

    Replace the O-rings from the high and low-pressure A/C pipes with new ones, and apply compressor oil to the O-ring before installation.
     
    Recharge the A/C system, as outlined in this section
     
    After charging the refrigerant, check for leaks.
     
    Fill the engine cooling system with the proper type and amount of coolant.
