4.0L Engine



Crankshaft Driven Fan
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air duct.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine front undercover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the upper and lower radiator shrouds.
  8.  
  9. Remove the drive belts, as outlined in the Engine Mechanical Section.
  10.  
  11. Remove the cooling fan.
  12.  
  13. Inspect the fan coupling for oil leakage and bimetal conditions. Check to be sure that there is no noteworthy looseness in the fan bracket shaft, and that it turns smoothly by hand. If there are notable concerns, the fan bracket must be replaced.
  14.  
  15. Installation is in the reverse order of removal. Install the cooling fan with its front mark -F- facing the front of the engine.
  16.  
  17. start the engine and check to make sure there are no coolant or A/T leaks.

Motor Driven Fan
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove radiator upper and lower shroud.
  4.  
  5. Detach the harness connector from fan motor.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bolt and remove the fan grille and motor assembly.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
