RSV AND RAD MECHANICAL TYPE REMOVAL



  1. Remove the injection pump and place it in a holding fixture.
  2.  
  3. Install the timer.
  4.  
  5. Drain the cam and governor chambers.
  6.  
  7. Remove the supply pump.
  8.  
  9. Remove the cam cover.
  10.  
  11. Using a special wrench, ST #57916432, on the timer, turn the camshaft until all the tappets are raised to TDC. Place a tappet holder, #57931-210, between the tappet adjusting bolt and nut for each cylinder.
  12.  
  13. Remove the rear cover and dipstick.
  14.  
  15. Loosen the balance idler spring and the auxiliary idler spring lock nut.
  16.  
  17. Loosen the governor cover lock screw.
  18.  
  19. Unbolt and remove the governor cover from the governor body. Remove the link from the control rack.
  20.  
  21. Remove the start spring from the spring eye.
  22.  
  23. Remove the counterweights from the camshaft.
  24.  
  25. Hold the timer and remove the slotted nuts and lockwasher.
  26.  
  27. Using a puller, ST #57926-512, remove the flyweight assembly.
  28.  
  29. Remove the timer.
  30.  
  31. Unbolt and remove the governor body.
  32.  

MZ PNEUMATIC TYPE REMOVAL



  1. Follow Steps 1-6 of RSV Type Removal.
  2.  
  3. Unbolt and remove the diaphragm housing and main spring.
  4.  
  5. Remove the diaphragm ring with a screwdriver.
  6.  
  7. Remove the cotter pin from the connecting rod bolt with a pair of needlenose pliers.
  8.  
  9. Remove the diaphragm assembly from the control rack.
  10.  
  11. Remove the five set screws and remove the governor body by applying force in the slit between the governor and pump housings.
  12.  
  13. Remove the timer.
  14.  

RSV TYPE INSTALLATION



  1. Apply RTV silicone gasket material to the governor body and install the governor on the injection pump.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the upper spring eye screw holding the starting spring.
  4.  
  5. Install the timer.
  6.  
  7. Install the flyweight assembly.
  8.  
  9. Apply RTV silicone gasket material to the governor cover and install the starting spring on the housing side of the spring eye.
  10.  
  11. Install the link leaf spring in the hole in the end of the control rack.
  12.  
  13. Install the cover and set screws.
  14.  

MZ TYPE INSTALLATION



  1. Apply RTV silicone gasket material to the governor body, position it on the pump body and tap it into position with a plastic mallet. Install the set service.
  2.  
  3. Install the diaphragm and balance spring on the control rack connecting bolt and lock it with a new cotter pin. Apply chassis lube to the diaphragm ring.
  4.  
  5. Insert the main spring and install the diaphragm housing with the four bolts.
  6.
