Air Conditioning Condenser

It may be illegal in certain areas to service air conditioning components unless you are certified. Consult with your local authorities.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



All Models

CAUTION
The compressed refrigerant used in the air conditioning system expands into the atmosphere at a temperature of -2°F or lower. This will freeze any surface, including your eyes, that it contacts. In addition, the refrigerant decomposes into a poisonous gas in the presence of a flame. Do not open or disconnect any part of the air conditioning system until you have read the SAFTEY WARNINGS section in General Information & Maintenance .

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cables.
  2.  
  3. Remove the necessary components in order to gain access to the condenser retaining bolts. If equipped, remove the condenser fan motor, as necessary.
  4.  
  5. Discharge the system. Remove the condenser refrigerant lines and plug them with a clean shop towel.
  6.  

On some models the receiver/drier assembly should be removed before removing the condenser.

  1. Remove the condenser retaining bolts. Remove the condenser from the vehicle.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Install the condenser in the vehicle and evenly tighten all the mounting bolts.
  2.  

Always use new O-rings in all refrigerant lines.

  1. Reconnect all the refrigerant lines.
  2.  
  3. Install all equipment removed in order to gain access to the condenser mounting bolts. Install the condenser fan motor if removed.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Evacuate and charge the system as required.
