1975-80 Carbureted Engines

Regular maintenance for this component includes a check of the drive belt tension at the specified interval, and replacement of the air pump filter every 24,000 miles (40,000 km). The air filter case is located in the left front of the engine compartment on most models. To replace the air filter, simply unscrew the wing nut(s) securing the cover to the case, withdraw the old filter, install the new one, and reinstall the case. 1981-86 Carbureted Engines

These models utilize an air cleaner-mounted valve and filter. Removal and installation procedures are detailed in the Air Cleaner section.
