Nissan Pick-ups and Pathfinder 1989-1995

Timing Belt

6-Cylinder Engines

Do not bend or twist the timing belt. If the timing belt breaks while driving, or the crankshaft and/or camshaft are turned separately after the timing belt is removed, valves may strike the piston heads, causing engine damage. Make sure the timing belt and tensioner are clean and free from oil and water.

On 1989-93 vehicles, replace the timing belt at 60,000 miles (96,000 km). On 1994-95 vehicles, replace the timing belt at 105,000 miles (168,000 km). Refer to Engine & Engine Overhaul for removal and installation service procedures.
