Nissan Pick-ups and Pathfinder 1989-1995

Vehicle Identification Number

Print

See Figures 1 through 8

The vehicle serial number is stamped on a plate fastened to the driver's side door pillar.

The number is also located on the right front fender apron in the engine compartment (behind the wheel arch).

All models also have the vehicle identification number stamped on a plate attached to the left side of the instrument panel. The plate is visible through the windshield.

The vehicle identification (model variation codes) may be interpreted as follows:

All models use a four letter prefix followed by the model designation (D21), then a four letter suffix (five on 1991 and later models), as shown in the illustration.

The serial number on all models is the new 17-digit format. The first three digits are the World Manufacturer Identification number. The next five digits are the Vehicle Description Section (same as the series identification number). The remaining nine digits are the production numbers.
