Installation



Timing Disturbed
  1. Set the engine to Top Dead Center (TDC) of the compression stroke for the No. 1 cylinder.
  2.  
  3. Align the index mark on the distributor shaft with the protrusion on the distributor housing.

  4.  
  5. Install the distributor and check that the distributor rotor is aligned.

  6.  
  7. Install or connect the following:

    Distributor. Tighten the hold-down bolt to 10-12 ft. lbs. (14-17 Nm).
     
    Distributor cap
     
    Distributor harness connector
     

  8.  
  9. Check the ignition timing and adjust, as necessary.
  10.  

Timing Not Disturbed
  1. Install or connect the following:

    Distributor and align the matchmarks made during removal. Tighten the hold-down bolt to 10-12 ft. lbs. (14-17 Nm).
     
    Distributor wiring harness connector
     
    Distributor cap
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Check the ignition timing and adjust, as necessary.
  4.  

Removal



This applies to the 3.3L engine only.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Distributor cap
     
    Distributor wiring harness connector
     

  4.  
  5. Matchmark the rotor to the distributor housing and the distributor housing to the cylinder head.
  6.  
  7. Remove the distributor hold-down bolt and the distributor.
  8.  

Removal & Installation



This applies to the 3.3L engine only.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Distributor cap
     
    Distributor wiring harness connector
     

  4.  
  5. Matchmark the rotor to the distributor housing and the distributor housing to the cylinder head.
  6.  
  7. Remove the distributor hold-down bolt and the distributor.
  8.  

Timing Disturbed
