3.3L Engine



In-Line-California
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure using the recommended procedure.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Remove the filter splash shield bolts.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the lines from each end of the filter and plug the hoses to prevent leakage.
  12.  
  13. Loosen the filter bracket nuts.
  14.  
  15. Remove the fuel filter from the bracket.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Install the fuel filter into the bracket with the arrow facing forward. Tighten the bracket bolts to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Reconnect the fuel hoses.
  4.  
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Check for leaks.
  10.

  6.  
  7. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Check for leaks.

In-Line-Except California
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure using the recommended procedure.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Remove the fuel hose clamps.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect and plug the hoses to prevent leakage.
  12.  
  13. Remove the fuel filter from the bracket.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Install the fuel filter into the bracket with the arrow facing up, in the direction of the fuel travel to the engine.
  2.  
  3. Reconnect the fuel hoses.
  4.  
  5. Install and tighten the hose clamps. Verify that the clamps are properly tightened. System operating pressure is approximately 36 psi (248 kPa) and fuel will leak is connections are not properly made.
  6.  
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  10.  
  11. Check for leaks.

  13. Remove the fuel filter from the bracket.

To install:

  1. Install the fuel filter into the bracket with the arrow facing up, in the direction of the fuel travel to the engine.
  2.  
  3. Reconnect the fuel hoses.
  4.  
  5. Install and tighten the hose clamps. Verify that the clamps are properly tightened. System operating pressure is approximately 36 psi (248 kPa) and fuel will leak is connections are not properly made.
  6.  
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  10.  
  11. Check for leaks.
  12.  

3.5L Engine



The fuel filter is integrated with the fuel pump, refer to Fuel Pump removal and installation procedure.
