Power Windows



Diagnosis & Testing
2001-2002
  1. If none of the power windows can be operated using any switch, possible causes are:

    7.5A fuse, 10A fuse, 30A fusible link and circuit breaker-1
     
    Grounds M68, M105 and M130
     
    Power window relay
     
    Open/short in main power window and door lock/unlock switch circuit
     
    Inspect and repair the following if necessary:
     




    1. 7.5A fuse (No. 39, located in fuse and fusible link box), 10A fuse (No. 30, located in fuse block), 30A fusible link (letter f, located in the fuse and fusible link box) and circuit breaker-1. Turn ignition switch -ON- and verify battery positive voltage is present at terminal 1 of main power window and door lock/unlock, terminal 5 of front power window switch RH
    2.  
    3. Grounds M68, M105 and M130
    4.  
    5. Power window relay
    6.  
    7. Orange/Brown wire between power window relay and main power window and door lock/unlock switch for open/short circuit
    8.

  3. If the driver side power window cannot be operated but other windows can be operated, possible causes are:

    Driver side (front LH) power window motor circuit
     
    Driver side (front LH) power window motor
     
    Inspect and repair the following if necessary:
     




    1. Driver side (front LH) power window motor circuit.
    2.  
    3. Check driver side (front LH) power window motor.
    4.  

  4.  
  5. If passenger side power window cannot be operated, possible causes are:

    Power window switch (front RH)
     
    Power window motor (front RH)
     
    Main power window and door lock/unlock switch
     
    Power window circuits
     
    Inspect and repair the following if necessary:
     




    1. Power window switch (front RH)
    2.  
    3. Power window motor (front RH)
    4.  
    5. Main power window and door lock/unlock switch
    6.  
    7. Wires between main power window and door lock/unlock switch, power window switch RH and motor for open/short circuit
    8.

  7. If the passenger side power window cannot be operated by main switch but can be operated by passenger-s switch, possible causes are:

    Main power window and door lock/unlock switch
     
    Inspect and repair the following if necessary:
     




    1. Main power window and door lock/unlock switch
    2.

  9. If one or both rear power vent windows cannot be operated, possible causes are:

    Main power window and door lock/unlock switch
     
    Rear power vent window motors
     
    Rear power vent window circuits
     
    Inspect and repair the following if necessary:
     




    1. main power window and door lock/unlock switch
    2.  
    3. rear power vent window motors (LH and RH)
    4.  
    5. wires between rear power vent window motors for open or short circuits
    6.

2004-2006
With Rear Power Vent Windows
  1. If none of the power windows can be operated using any switch, inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    BCM power supply and ground circuit
     
    Main power window and door lock/unlock supply and ground circuit
     
    Power window serial link
     

  2.  
  3. If the front power window LH alone does not operate, inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    Front power window motor LH circuit
     
    Replace the main power window and door lock/unlock switch
     

  4.  
  5. If the front power window RH alone does not operate, inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    Power window and door lock/unlock switch RH power and ground circuit
     
    Power window serial link
     
    Front power window motor RH circuit check
     
    Replace BCM
     

  6.  
  7. If the rear power vent window LH alone does not operate, inspect the rear power vent window motor LH circuit.
  8.  
  9. If the rear power vent window RH alone does not operate, inspect the rear power vent window motor RH circuit.
  10.  
  11. If the Anti-pinch system does not operate normally (Front LH) , inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    Door window sliding part malfunction, a foreign material adheres to window glass or glass run rubber, glass run rubber wear or deformation or sash is tilted too much, or not enough
     
    Limit switch adjusting
     
    Limit switch circuit check LH
     
    Encoder circuit check LH
     

  12.  
  13. If the Anti-pinch system does not operate normally (Front RH) , inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    Door window sliding part malfunction, a foreign material adheres to window glass or glass run rubber, glass run rubber wear or deformation or sash is tilted too much, or not enough
     
    Limit switch adjusting
     
    Limit switch circuit check RH
     
    Encoder circuit check RH
     

  14.  
  15. If the power window retained power operation does not operate properly, inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    Retained power operation mode setting
     
    Door switch
     
    Replace BCM
     

  16.  
  17. If the front power windows do not operate by front door lock assembly LH (key cylinder switch), inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    Front door lock assembly LH (key cylinder switch)
     
    Replace main power window and door lock/unlock switch
     

  18.  
  19. If the power window lock switch does not function inspect and repair the power window lock switch circuit check as necessary.
  20.  

Without Rear Power Vent Windows
  1. If none of the power windows can be operated using any switch, inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    BCM power supply and ground circuit
     
    Main power window and door lock/unlock supply and ground circuit
     
    Power window serial link
     

  2.  
  3. If the front power window LH alone does not operate, inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    Front power window motor LH circuit
     
    Replace the main power window and door lock/unlock switch
     

  4.  
  5. If the front power window RH alone does not operate, inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    Power window and door lock/unlock switch RH power and ground circuit
     
    Power window serial link
     
    Front power window motor RH circuit check
     
    Replace BCM
     

  6.  
  7. If the Anti-pinch system does not operate normally (Front LH) , inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    Door window sliding part malfunction, a foreign material adheres to window glass or glass run rubber, glass run rubber wear or deformation or sash is tilted too much, or not enough

  8.

  13. If the front power windows do not operate by front door lock assembly LH (key cylinder switch), inspect and repair the following if necessary:

    Front door lock assembly LH (key cylinder switch)
     
    Replace main power window and door lock/unlock switch
     

  14.  
  15. If the power window lock switch does not function inspect and repair the power window lock switch circuit check as necessary.

Removal & Installation
Motor, Regulator & Switch

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front door speaker.
  6.  
  7. Remove the hole cover over rear glass bolt.
  8.  
  9. Connect the battery negative cable and temporarily reconnect the power window switch to the door harness.
  10.  
  11. Operate the power window main switch to raise/lower the door glass until the door glass bolts can be seen.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  14.  
  15. Remove the door glass bolts.
  16.  
  17. Raise the door glass up into the door frame/channel and hold in place with a suitable tool.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the harness connector for the regulator assembly.
  20.  
  21. Remove the regulator nuts, and remove the regulator assembly.
  22.  
  23. To install, reverse removal procedure.
  24.  
  25. Apply grease to application points as shown in illustration
