Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Drain the brake fluid.
  6.  
  7. Remove brake hose bolt and caliper bolts, then remove caliper assembly.
  8.

  1. Install caliper assembly, and tighten bolts to 115 ft. lbs. (156 Nm) on the front caliper or 62 ft. lbs. (84 Nm) on the rear caliper.
  2.  
  3. Install brake hose to the caliper assembly using a new copper washer, and tighten the bolt to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Refill the system with new brake fluid and bleed the brakes.
  6.  
  7. If the rear caliper was removed, adjust the parking brake as follows:
    1. Insert a deep socket wrench to rotate adjusting nut and loosen the cable sufficiently. Then, return the pedal to the free height.
    2.  
    3. Using the lug nuts, secure the rotor to the hub and prevent it from tilting.
    4.  
    5. Remove the adjusting hole plug installed on the rotor. Using a suitable tool, rotate the adjuster in directionA
    6.  
    7. Rotate the rotor to make sure there is no drag and install the adjusting hole plug.
    8.  
    9. Pump the brake pedal 10 or more times with a force of 66 lbs. (294 N).
    10.  
    11. Rotate the adjusting nut with a deep socket to adjust the pedal stroke. The stroke should be 5 to 6 notches
    12.

NOTE
Do not reuse the adjusting nut after removing it.

  1. When parking brake pedal is operated at specified force, make sure the force is 44 lbs. (196 N).
  2.  
  3. With the pedal completely returned, make sure there is no drag on the rear brake.
  4.

  4.  
  5. Drain the brake fluid.

  7. Remove brake hose bolt and caliper bolts, then remove caliper assembly.

  1. Install caliper assembly, and tighten bolts to 62 ft. lbs. (84 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install brake hose to the caliper assembly using a new copper washer, and tighten the bolt to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Refill the system with new brake fluid and bleed the brakes.
  6.  
  7. Adjust the parking brake as follows:
    1. Insert a deep socket wrench to rotate adjusting nut and loosen the cable sufficiently. Then, return the pedal to the free height.
    2.  
    3. Using the lug nuts, secure the rotor to the hub and prevent it from tilting.
    4.  
    5. Remove the adjusting hole plug installed on the rotor. Using a suitable tool, rotate the adjuster in direction A as illustrated, until the rotor is locked. After locking, turn the adjuster in the opposite direction by 5 or 6 notches.
    6.  
    7. Rotate the rotor to make sure there is no drag and install the adjusting hole plug.
    8.  
    9. Pump the brake pedal 10 or more times with a force of 66 lbs. (294 N).
    10.  
    11. Rotate the adjusting nut with a deep socket to adjust the pedal stroke. The stroke should be 5 to 6 notches
      NOTE
      Do not reuse the adjusting nut after removing it.
