Nissan Sentra/Pulsar/NX 1982-1996 Repair Guide

Dual Pressure Switch

The dual pressure switch has 2 functions. The first is to turn the air conditioning compressor OFF when the refrigerant level is low. The second is to turn the compressor OFF when the refrigerant high side pressure is too high. Either condition can cause damage to the system. The switch is located in the pipe between the condenser and evaporator outlet on some early models. The switch is located on top of the receiver/drier.

The pressure switch will turn the compressor OFF if the cooling fan is defective.

Discharge the air conditioning system as outlined in General Information & Maintenance . Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the switch from the high side pipe or receiver/drier. Use a wrench to prevent the component from twisting. To install, apply thread sealing tape to the pressure switch and torque to 84-108 inch lbs. (10-12 Nm).
