Nissan Sentra/Pulsar/NX 1982-1996 Repair Guide

Pressure Relief Valve

The air conditioning system is protected by a pressure relief valve, located on the end of the high side hose near the compressor. When the refrigerant pressure reaches an abnormal level of 540 psi (3727 kPa), the release port automatically opens and releases refrigerant to the atmosphere. The pressure relief valve port will then close when pressure reaches 434 psi (2991 kPa).
