Nissan Sentra/Pulsar/NX 1982-1996 Repair Guide

Block Heater

The engine block heater is located under the exhaust manifold in place of an engine freeze plug. Allow the engine to cool, drain the antifreeze into a suitable container and position the pan under the block heater. Loosen the retaining bolt and remove the heater from the engine.

When draining engine coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted to ethylene glycol antifreeze and could drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or is several years old.

Clean the mounting surface, apply sealer to the heater, install the heater and tighten the retaining bolt.
