Rear Main Oil Seal

  1. Remove the engine and transaxle assembly from the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the transaxle from the engine.
  4.  
  5. Remove the clutch/flywheel assembly (manual transaxle) or the driveplate (automatic transaxle) from the crankshaft.
  6.  
  7. Remove the oil seal retainer, if equipped with a removable retainer.
  8.  
  9. Using a small prybar, pry the rear main oil seal from around the crankshaft.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Apply lithium grease around the sealing lip of the oil seal and install the seal by driving it into the cylinder block using an oil seal installation tool.
  2.  
  3. If applicable, install the oil seal retainer.
  4.  
  5. Install the flywheel or driveplate.
  6.  
  7. Install the transaxle to engine.
  8.  
  9. Install engine and transaxle assembly in the vehicle.
  10.
