1982-86 Vehicles

  1. Remove the ash tray and the ash tray bracket.
  2.  
  3. Remove the radio mounting bolts.
  4.  
  5. Remove the instrument panel cover surrounding the radio.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the electrical harness connector and the antenna plug from the radio.
  8.  
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedures.
  10.  

1987-94 Vehicles

Some late model radio assemblies have an auxiliary fuse located in the rear of the radio. If all other power sources check OK, remove the radio and check the fuse.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cluster center trim panel screws. Pull the trim panel straight out to disengage the clips.
  4.  
  5. Remove the radio retaining bolts and pull the radio out far enough to disconnect the antenna and electrical wiring.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Position the radio and connect the electrical connectors.
  2.  
  3. Install the retaining bolts and torque to 24 inch lbs. (1.36 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the center cluster trim panel.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable and check operation.
  8.  

1995-96 Sentra
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Using a small, flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry out the upper mask of the center instrument cluster bezel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the center instrument cluster bezel upper mounting screw and remove the center instrument cluster bezel by prying out with a small, flat-bladed screwdriver.
  6.  
  7. Remove the radio unit mounting screws and pull the radio unit from the center of the instrument panel.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the antenna and electrical wiring connectors from behind the radio unit and remove the radio from the vehicle.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the radio unit into the center of the instrument panel and reconnect the wiring connectors to the radio unit.
  2.  
  3. Install and tighten the radio unit mounting screws.
  4.  
  5. Install the center instrument cluster bezel into the instrument panel and install the center bezel upper mounting screw.
  6.  
  7. Install the center bezel upper mask onto the center instrument cluster bezel making certain that all 4 retaining pawls are engaged.
  8.  
  9. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Turn on the radio and check for proper operation.
