  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the control cables by unfastening clamps at door levers.
  4.  
  5. Remove the center finish panel screws and pull the bezel out. Later models also have metal retaining clips. Refer to the Instrument Panel in General Information & Maintenance 0.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the heater control head assembly mounting bolts. Remove the ground wire from intake box, if so equipped.
  8.  
  9. Remove the heater control head assembly.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the heater control and reconnect the control cables and electrical connectors.
  2.  
  3. Install the center finish panel and check operation.
  4.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the center trim panel and shift cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the temperature control cable at the heater unit side.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the fresh vent control cable at the heater unit side.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 6 bracket screws.
  10.  
  11. Pull the control assembly out and disconnect the control harness and remove.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Install the control assembly and reconnect the harnesses.
  2.  
  3. Connect all cables and harnesses.
  4.  
  5. Adjust the temperature control cable by moving the control lever to max. hot and set the air door in the full hot mode. Pull the outer cable until all slack is taken out. Test the operation before going further.
  6.  
  7. Install the trim panel and shift cover.
  8.  
  9. Connect the battery cable and check operation.
  10.  

1995-96 Sentra

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Using a small, flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry out the upper mask of the center instrument cluster bezel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the center instrument cluster bezel upper mounting screw and remove the center instrument cluster bezel by prying out with a small, flat-bladed screwdriver.
  6.  
  7. Remove the heater-A/C control unit mounting screws.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the temperature and mode control cables from the heater-A/C control unit side.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the wiring connectors from behind the heater-A/C control unit.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Place the control assembly into the instrument panel and reconnect the temperature and mode control cables to the back of the control unit. Reconnect the wiring connectors to the back of the control unit.
  2.  
  3. Install and tighten the heater-A/C control unit mounting screws.
  4.  
  5. Install the center instrument cluster bezel onto the instrument panel and install the center bezel upper mounting screw. Install the center bezel upper mask onto the cluster bezel making certain all 4 retaining pawls are engaged.
  6.  
  7. Turn the mode control knob to the DEFROST position. Set the side link in the DEFROST position by hand.
  8.  
  9. Pull on the cable cover in the direction of the arrow, then clamp the cable cover.
  10.  
  11. Reconnect the negative battery cable and check the heater-A/C system for proper operation.
  12.
