Pillar Mount (Non-Motorized)
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the buckle cap at the pillar.
  4.  
  5. Move the front seat to the forward position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the upper and lower seat belt retaining bolts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front seat in order to remove the seat buckle. Disconnect the seat belt warning electrical harness.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the seat belts and torque the retaining bolts to 25-30 ft. lbs. (34-41 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the buckle cover and connect the battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Check the belt operation before driving the vehicle. The belt should not bind or lock intermittently.
  6.  
  7. Drive the vehicle slowly with the seat belt connected properly. The belt should move freely until the brake pedal is applied. During braking, the seat belt should lock in place; if not, replace the seat belt assembly.

Door Mount (2 or 3-Point Automatic Belt System)

Door mounted automatic seat belts were available in 3-point fixed and 2-point motorized types.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Open the door and remove the inner door trim.
  4.  
  5. On 3-point fixed (non-motorized) systems, disengage the upper belt guide from the door.
  6.  
  7. If equipped with a 3-point fixed system, remove the door trim panel as outlined previously in this section. Detach the electrical connectors, then unfasten and remove the seat belt and tensioner assembly.
  8.  
  9. If equipped with a 2-point motorized system, remove the pillar trim panel, then unfasten and remove the motor and seat belt latch. Detach the electrical connectors.
  10.  
  11. Remove the seat inner side cover. Detach the electrical connectors, then unfasten and remove the seat belt buckle.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Install the seat belt buckle and tighten the retaining bolts to 32-41 ft. lbs. (43-55 Nm). Fasten the electrical connectors, then install the inner side cover.
  2.  
  3. If applicable, install the motor and seat belt latch, and tighten the retaining bolts to 32-41 ft. lbs. (43-55 Nm). Otherwise, install the seat belt and tensioner assembly, and torque the retaining bolts to 32-41 ft. lbs. (43-55 Nm). Fasten the electrical connectors.

  5. Install the door trim panel or pillar trim panel.
  6.  
  7. If applicable, install the upper belt guide to the door and torque the bolts to 4-5 ft. lbs. (5-7 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the inner door trim.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable and check the seat belt motor operation when the door is closed and the ignition key is turned ON .
  12.  
  13. Check the belt operation before driving the vehicle. The belt should not bind or lock intermittently.
  14.  
  15. Drive the vehicle slowly with the seat belt connected properly. The belt should move freely until the brake pedal is applied. During braking, the seat belt should lock in place; if not, replace the seat belt assembly.
