REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Except 1995-96 Sentra

Grasp only the plastic base when handling the bulb. Never touch the glass portion of the bulb. When the bulb is ON, the finger oil can cause the bulb to burst. If the bulb is touched, it MUST be cleaned with alcohol before installation.

  1. Open the engine hood.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Turn the bulb retaining ring counterclockwise until it is free from the headlight reflector.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the wiring harness from the backside of the bulb.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bulb from the retainer carefully.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the bulb into the retainer.
  2.  
  3. Apply electrically conductive grease to the harness connector and install the assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the bulb into the reflector and turn clockwise until it stops.
  6.  
  7. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Close the hood and check operation.
  10.

  1. Open the hood.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. If the right side (passenger's side) headlight bulb is being replaced, reposition the engine coolant reservoir out of the way for access.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the headlight bulb electrical connector.
  8.  
  9. Push down the headlight bulb retainer spring.
  10.  
  11. Pull out the headlight bulb and socket as an assembly.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Install the headlight bulb and socket assembly into the headlight body assembly and engage the headlight bulb spring retainer.
  2.  
  3. Connect the headlight bulb electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. If the right side headlight bulb was replaced, install the engine coolant reservoir back to its proper location.
  6.  
  7. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Close the hood and check headlight operation.
  10.

  1. Raise the headlight doors on 1983-90 Pulsar.
  2.  
  3. Turn the low beam ON .
  4.  
  5. Use the adjusting screws to perform aiming adjustment. The screw on the side is for side to side adjustment and the screw on the bottom is for up and down adjustment.
  6.  
  7. Park the vehicle in front of bare wall. Refer to the illustration.
  8.  
  9. Adjust the headlights so that the upper edge and left edge of the high intensity zone are within the acceptable range.
  10.  
  11. The dotted lines in the illustration show the center of the headlights. H equals horizontal center line of headlights and WL equals the distance between each headlight center.

  1. Turn OFF both headlight switch and retractable headlight switch.
  2.  
  3. Remove the motor shaft cap.
  4.  
  5. Turn the motor shaft counterclockwise by hand until the headlights are opened or closed.
  6.  
  7. Reinstall the motor shaft cap and connect the battery cable.
  8.
