  10.
  11. Remove the bolt from the column lower joint.
  12.
  13. Remove the temporarily installed column support bracket bolts and withdraw the column from the lower joint.
  14.
  15. Withdraw the column spline shaft from the lower joint and remove the steering column. Be careful not to tear the column tube jacket insulator during removal.
  16.

To install:
  1. Insert the column spline shaft into the lower joint and install all column fasteners finger-tight.
  2.
  3. Install the lower joint bolt. The cutout portion of the spline shaft must perfectly aligned with the bolt. Tighten the bolt to 17-22 ft. lbs. (23-30 Nm). Tighten the steering bracket and clamp fasteners gradually. While tightening, make sure no stress is placed on the column.
  4.
  5. Connect the combination switch and steering lock switch wiring.
  6.
  7. Install the steering column covers.
  8.
  9. Install the steering wheel.

  2.
  3. Apply a coat of grease to the column bearing and bushing.
  4.
  5. Install the shaft into the tube. Install the snapring so that the rounded surface faces toward the bearing.
  6.
  7. Install the tilt mechanism. Adjust the tilt lever angle to 20-30° when the adjusting lever nut is torque to 72 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
  8.
  9. Move the tilt lever from the lock to release position several times to ensure that the jacket tube is securely tightened when the tilt lever is at lock. The jacket tube should move smoothly when the tilt lever is at he release position. Readjust if necessary.
