  1. Remove the front engine mounting insulator nuts.
  2.
  3. Lift the engine.
  4.
  5. Loosen the oil pan bolts in the proper sequence. On Z series engine application follow the CA series pattern.
  6.
  7. Remove the suspension crossmember bolts and remove the screws that secure the power steering oil tubes to the crossmember.
  8.
  9. Lower the suspension crossmember until there is sufficient clearance to remove the oil pan.
  10.
  11. Insert a seal cutter between the oil pan and the cylinder block.
  12.
  13. Tapping the seal cutter with a hammer, slide the cutting tool around the entire edge of the oil pan. Do not drive the seal cutter into the oil pump or rear seal retainer portion or the aluminum mating surface will be deformed.
  14.
  15. Lower the oil pan from the cylinder block and remove it from the front side of the engine.
  16.

To install:
  1. Carefully scrape the old gasket material away from the pan and cylinder block mounting surfaces.
  2.
  3. First apply sealant to the oil pump gasket and rear oil seal retainer gasket surfaces. Then, apply a continuous bead (3.54.5mm) of liquid gasket around the oil pan to the 4 corners of the cylinder block mounting surface. Wait 5 minutes and then install the pan. Tighten the oil pan bolts in sequence to 56 ft. lbs. On Z series engine application follow the CA series pattern.
  4.
  5. Raise the crossmember from the lowered position. Attach the power steering tubes and install the crossmember bolts.
  6.
  7. Install the front engine mounting insulator nuts.
  8.
  9. Connect the tension rod and stabilizer bar to the transverse link.
  10.
  11. Attach the power steering bracket to the crossmember.
  12.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14.
  15. Fill the crankcase to the proper level.
  16.
  17. Connect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  18.

  1. Remove the front hood if necessary, connect a lifting sling to the engine, and apply upward pressure. Drain the oil pan.
  2.
  3. Remove the covers from under the engine. Then, remove the engine mount insulator nuts and bolts.
  4.
  5. Remove the five engine mounting bolts and remove the center crossmember assembly.
  6.
  7. Remove the exhaust pipe connecting nuts. Unbolt and remove the oil pan.
  8.

To install:
  1. Clean all the sealing surfaces. Apply sealant to the four joints on the lower surface of the block. Apply sealant to the corresponding areas of the oil pan gasket on both upper and lower surfaces.
  2.
  3. Install the pan and gasket. Torque the pan bolts EVENLY in the order shown in the illustration to 5-6 ft. lbs and then lower engine assembly.
  4.
  5. Install the exhaust pipe connection.
  6.
  7. Install the center crossmember assembly and engine mount bolts.
  8.
  9. Install the under covers to the engine and refill the oil pan with the specified quantity of clean oil. Operate the engine and check for leaks.
  10.

  8.
  9. Position a block of wood between a floor jack and the engine and then raise the engine slightly in its mounts.
  10.
  11. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts in the proper sequence.
  12.
  13. Insert a seal cutter between the oil pan and the cylinder block.
  14.
  15. Tapping the cutter with a hammer, slide it around the entire edge of the oil pan. Do not drive the seal cutter into the oil pump or rear seal retainer portion or the aluminum mating surface will be deformed.
  16.
  17. Lower the oil pan from the cylinder block and remove it from the front side of the engine.
  18.

To install:
  1. To install, carefully scrape the old gasket material away from the pan and cylinder block mounting surfaces and then apply a continuous bead (3.54.5mm) of liquid gasket around the oil pan to the 4 corners of the cylinder block mounting surface. Wait 5 minutes and then install the pan.
  2.
  3. Install the oil pan and tighten the mounting bolts from the inside, out, to 3.65.1 ft. lbs. Wait 30 minutes before refilling the crankcase to allow for the sealant to cure properly.
