REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



1982 and Later 200SX240SX

On all 1984-88 200SX models the blower motor is located behind the glove box, facing the floor in the intake unit of the heater housing.

Use this procedure as a guide and refer to the exploded view of the "Heater Assembly".

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Remove the instrument panel lower cover and cluster lid on the right hand side.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the control cable and harness connector from the blower unit.
  4.  
  5. Remove the three bolts and remove the blower unit.
  6.  
  7. Remove the three screws holding the blower motor in the case, unplug the hose running from the rear of the motor into the case and pull the motor together with the fan cage out of the case.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. With the blower motor assembly removed, check the case for any debris or signs of fan contact. Inspect the fan for wear spots, cracked blades or hub, loose retaining nut or poor alignment. Make sure the electrical connection is installed in the correct position. Check system for proper operation.

Stanza

On all Stanza models (except wagons) starting from 1987 and later the blower motor is located behind the glove box, facing the floor in the intake unit of the heater housing. On Stanza wagons, the blower motor is located behind the glove box, facing the floor in the intake unit of the heater housing.

Refer to the exploded view of each "Heater Assembly".

EARLY MODELS
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Working in the engine compartment, disconnect the blower motor insulator upper fasteners.
  2.  
  3. Remove the blower motor retaining bolts.
  4.  
  5. Push the blower motor insulator down by hand and remove the motor.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedures. With the blower motor assembly removed, check the case for any debris or signs of fan contact. Inspect the fan for wear spots, cracked blades or hub, loose retaining nut or poor alignment. Check system for proper operation.

LATER MODELS
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Disconnect the electrical harness from the blower motor.
  2.  
  3. Remove the retaining bolts from the bottom of the blower unit and lower the blower motor from the case.
  4.  
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedures. With the blower motor assembly removed, check the case for any debris or signs of fan contact. Inspect the fan for wear spots, cracked blades or hub, loose retaining nut or poor alignment. Check system for proper operation.
