Front Oil Seal(Pinion Seal)

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figures 1 and 2

  1. Remove the driveshaft--refer to the necessary service procedures.
  2.  
  3. Loosen drive pinion nut a special tool J34311 is required to hold companion flange.
  4.

  1. Remove companion flange (matchmark for correct installation) using suitable puller.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front oil seal from differential carrier.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Apply multi-purpose grease to sealing lips of oil seal. Press front oil seal into carrier.
  2.  
  3. Install companion flange and drive pinion nut. Torque drive pinion nut to specification.
  4.  
  5. Install the driveshaft. Check fluid level. Refer to the specifications below:

    The drive pinion nut torque specification for model H190-ML (200SX solid rear axle type) is total pre-load 10-19 in. lbs. is obtained (94-217 ft. lbs.)
     
    The drive pinion nut torque specification for (1984-85 200SX) model R200 (IRS type) is 137-159 ft. lbs.
     
    The drive pinion nut torque specification for (1986-88 200SX and 240SX) model R200 (IRS type) is 137-217 ft. lbs.
     
    The drive pinion nut torque specification for (1985-88 200SX) model R180 (IRS type) is 123-145 ft. lbs.
     
    The drive pinion nut torque specification for (1986-88 Stanza Wagon) model R180 is 123-145 ft. lbs.
