Inner CV-Joint



  1. Remove the halfshaft from the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Mount halfshaft in a vise.
  4.  
  5. Remove the dust boot bands.
  6.  
  7. Remove the stopper ring with a flat-bladed screwdriver or suitable tool.
  8.  
  9. Remove the snap ring.
  10.  
  11. Disassemble the cage, ball and inner race assembly and dust boot for cleaning and inspection.
  12.  

To install:

NOTE
Discard old dust boot, dust boot bands and snap ring and use new ones for assembly.

  1. Wrap the serrated part of the halfshaft with tape.
  2.  
  3. Install new dust boot and band onto halfshaft.
  4.  
  5. Remove tape from serrated part of halfshaft.
  6.  
  7. Install the cage, ball and inner race assembly.
  8.  
  9. Install new snap ring.
  10.  
  11. Insert 4.50-5.3 oz of genuine NISSAN grease or equivalent onto the housing and install onto halfshaft.
  12.  
  13. Install the stopper ring onto the housing.
  14.  
  15. Install the dust boot into the grooves on joint sub-assembly.
  16.  
  17. Secure the big and small ends of the dust boot using new boot bands.
  18.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the halfshaft from the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Mount halfshaft in a vise.
  6.  
  7. Remove the dust boot bands.
  8.  
  9. Remove the stopper ring with a flat-bladed screwdriver or suitable tool.
  10.  
  11. Remove the snap ring.
  12.  
  13. Disassemble the cage, ball and inner race assembly and dust boot for cleaning and inspection.
  14.  

To install:

NOTE
Discard old dust boot, dust boot bands and snap ring and use new ones for assembly.

  1. Wrap the serrated part of the halfshaft with tape.

  3. Install new dust boot and band onto halfshaft.

  7. Install the cage, ball and inner race assembly.

  9. Install new snap ring.

  11. Insert 4.50-5.3 oz of genuine NISSAN grease or equivalent onto the housing and install onto halfshaft.
  12.  
  13. Install the stopper ring onto the housing.
  14.  
  15. Install the dust boot into the grooves on joint sub-assembly.
  16.  
  17. Secure the big and small ends of the dust boot using new boot bands.
  18.  

Outer CV-Joint



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the halfshaft from the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Mount halfshaft in a vise.
  6.  
  7. Remove the dust boot bands and dust boot from joint sub-assembly.
  8.  
  9. Insert a suitable puller into the threaded part of the halfshaft. Pull the joint sub-assembly off of the halfshaft as shown in figure.
  10.  
  11. Remove dust boot and circlip from halfshaft for cleaning and inspection.

To install:


NOTE
Discard old dust boot, dust boot bands and circlip and use new ones for assembly.

  1. Insert genuine NISSAN grease or equivalent into the joint sub-assembly until grease oozes from the ball groove and serration hole.
  2.  
  3. Wrap the serrated part of the halfshaft with tape.
  4.  
  5. Install new dust boot and band onto halfshaft.
  6.  
  7. Remove tape from serrated part of the halfshaft.
  8.  
  9. Press-fit the new circlip to the halfshaft.
  10.  
  11. Insert 5.1-5.8 oz of genuine NISSAN grease or equivalent into the joint sub-assembly and large end of boot.
  12.  
  13. Install the dust boot into the grooves on the joint sub-assembly.
  14.  
  15. Secure the big and small ends of the dust boot using new boot bands.
  16.
