Inspection

Remove air duct and resonator assembly when inspecting drive belt. Make sure that indicator (single line notch) of each auto tensioner is within the allowable working range -A- (between three line notches) as shown in illustration. The indicator notch is located on the moving side of the drive belt auto tensioner. Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately. If the indicator is out of allowable working range or belt is damaged, replace the belt
