  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Air intake assembly
     
    Engine splash guard
     
    Radiator and radiator hoses
     
    Drive belts
     

  4.  
  5. Remove air fuel ratio sensors as follows:
    1. Remove engine cover.
    2.  
    3. Remove wiring harness from each sensor
    4.  
    5. Remove sensors, using special tool J-38356
    6.  

  6.  
  7. Remove front cross bar
  8.  
  9. Remove left exhaust manifold as follows:
    1. Remove the exhaust front tube.
    2.  
    3. Remove the exhaust manifold cover.
    4.  
    5. Loosen nuts in reverse order shown in figure.
    6.  
    7. Remove studs from position 2, 4, 6, and 8 and remove manifold.
    8.

  11. Remove right exhaust manifold as follows:
    1. Remove the exhaust front tube.
    2.  
    3. Remove the oil level gauge guide.
    4.  
    5. Remove the exhaust manifold cover.
    6.  
    7. Loosen nuts in reverse order shown in figure.
    8.  
    9. Remove studs from position 2, 4, 6, and 8 and remove manifold.

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Exhaust manifold gasket with triangle mark facing up and coated (gray) face toward exhaust manifold.
     
    Exhaust manifold, tightening the nuts as shown in figure
     
    Exhaust manifold cover
     
    Oil level gauge guide (right side only)
     
    Exhaust front tube
     
    Front cross bar
     
    Air fuel ratio sensors, with anti-seize lubricant
     
    Engine cover
     
    Drive belts
     
    Radiator and radiator hoses
     
    Engine splash guard
     
    Air intake assembly
     

  2.  
  3. Refill the cooling system
  4.  
  5. Start engine and check for leaks.
  6.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Air intake assembly
     
    Engine splash guard

  7. Remove air fuel ratio sensors as follows:
    1. Remove engine cover.
    2.

    1. Remove the exhaust front tube.

    5. Loosen nuts in reverse order shown in figure.

    7. Remove studs from position 2, 4, 6, and 8 and remove manifold.

  13. Remove right exhaust manifold as follows:
    1. Remove the exhaust front tube.
    2.  
    3. Remove the oil level gauge guide.
    4.  
    5. Remove the exhaust manifold cover.
    6.  
    7. Loosen nuts in reverse order shown in figure.
    8.  
    9. Remove studs from position 2, 4, 6, and 8 and remove manifold.

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

  3. Refill the cooling system
