To adjust parking brake shoes, refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjustment procedure.

Removal & Installation

WARNING
Clean the brakes with a vacuum dust collector to minimize the hazard of airborne particles or other materials.


NOTE
Remove the disc rotor only with the parking brake pedal completely in the released position.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear disc rotor
     
    Return springs
     
    Adjuster
     
    rear cable from the toggle lever, if necessary
     
    retainers, anti-rattle pins and shoes
     

  4.  
  5. Check shoe sliding surface on back plate for excessive wear and damage.
  6.  
  7. Check anti-rattle pins for excessive wear and corrosion.
  8.  
  9. Check return springs for sagging.
  10.  
  11. Check adjuster for rough operation.
  12.  
  13. To install, reverse removal procedure.
  14.  
  15. During installation, pay attention to the following:

    Apply brake grease to the specified points during assembly
     
    There is a difference between the adjusters orientation from left and right. Assemble the adjuster so the threaded part expands when rotating it
