Removal & Installation



  1. Support the rear differential with a suitable jack to relieve the tension from the leaf spring.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Shock absorber lower mounting bolt
     
    Spring clip U-bolt nuts
     
    Spring pad
     
    Storage box, if equipped
     
    Rear shackle lower bolt
     
    Leaf spring front mounting bolt
     
    Leaf spring
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Front mounting bolt and shackle lower bolt and finger tighten the nuts
     
    U-bolts, rear spring pad and nuts or the U-bolts
     

  2.  
  3. Tighten the U-bolt nuts diagonally and evenly to 89 ft. lbs. (120 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the shock absorber and finger tighten the nuts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the jack supporting the rear differential and bounce the rear of the vehicle to stabilize the suspension.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the front mount bolt to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Tighten the rear shackle lower bolt to 63 ft. lbs. (86 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Tighten the shock absorber lower mounting bolt to 111 ft. lbs. (150 Nm).
  14.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Support the rear differential with a suitable jack to relieve the tension from the leaf spring.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Shock absorber lower mounting bolt
     
    Spring clip U-bolt nuts
     
    Spring pad
     
    Storage box, if equipped
     
    Rear shackle lower bolt
     
    Leaf spring front mounting bolt
     
    Leaf spring
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Front mounting bolt and shackle lower bolt and finger tighten the nuts
     
    U-bolts, rear spring pad and nuts or the U-bolts

  3. Tighten the U-bolt nuts diagonally and evenly to 89 ft. lbs. (120 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the shock absorber and finger tighten the nuts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the jack supporting the rear differential and bounce the rear of the vehicle to stabilize the suspension.

  9. Tighten the front mount bolt to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).

  11. Tighten the rear shackle lower bolt to 63 ft. lbs. (86 Nm).

  13. Tighten the shock absorber lower mounting bolt to 111 ft. lbs. (150 Nm).
