  2.
  3. Adjust the pedal height to 8 in. (202mm) by turning the pushrod.
  4.

The pedal height is measured from the floorboard to the front of the pedal pad.

  1. Tighten the locknut.
  2.

  1. Loosen the locknut and screw the pedal stop in as far as it will go. The pedal should be free to move out as far as possible.
  2.
  3. Loosen the master cylinder pushrod locknut; it is located at the pedal clevis. Adjust the rod so that the pedal height is 9 in. (226mm). Pedal height is measured from the floorboard to the front of the pedal pad. Tighten the locknut.
  4.
  5. Screw the pedal stop back out until the pedal height is 8.7 in. (223mm). Tighten the locknut.
  6.

See Figure 2

The pedal height is first adjusted with the pedal stop bumper or the clutch switch. Free-play is then adjusted by varying the effective length of the master cylinder pushrod.

  1. Loosen the locknut on the pedal stop bumper or clutch switch. Turn the bumper or switch in or out until the pedal height is 8.7 in. (223mm), for 1976-78 models or 7.8-8.0 in. ( 200-206mm), for 1979 models. Tighten the locknut.

The pedal height is measured from the floorboard to the front of the pedal pad.

  1. Loosen the master cylinder pushrod locknut. The locknut is at the pedal clevis.
  2.
  3. Adjust the pedal free-play by turning the pushrod. Free-play should be 0.040-0.11 in. (1.0-3.0mm) for 1976-77 or 0.40-0.20 in. (1.0-5.0mm) for 1978-79 models. Tighten the locknut.
  4.

1980-83 Models

See Figure 3

Three adjustments are to be made. The first is to the adjusting rod, which connects the pedal arm to the return spring pivot. The 2nd is made by varying the effective length of the master cylinder pushrod. The 3rd is made by adjusting the clutch switch or pedal stop bumper.

  1. Check the length of the adjusting rod. The distance between the center of each end should be 6 in. (155mm). If not, loosen the locknuts and turn the adjuster until the length is correct. Tighten the locknuts.
  2.
  3. Loosen the clutch switch or the pedal stop bumper locknut. Turn the switch or bumper all the way in so that the pedal arm does not make contact.
  4.
