REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



This procedure requires that the refrigerant be removed and replaced. Always use an approved recovery/recycling machine. If you do not have access to this equipment, consult a professional who can perform the job.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2.  
  3. Discharge the air conditioning system. Refer to General Information & Maintenance .
  4.  
  5. Loosen the flare nuts at each connection of the inlet and outlet pipes of the evaporator. Plug all openings.
  6.  
  7. Remove the heater unit.
  8.  
  9. Remove the defroster duct on the passenger's side.
  10.  
  11. Remove the mounting bolt then remove the cooling unit from the dash panel.
  12.  
  13. Remove the clips attaching the upper case to the lower case.
  14.  
  15. Using a knife, cut the packing at the upper and lower case fit-in portion.
  16.  
  17. Withdraw the evaporator assembly to of the lower case.
  18.  
  19. To install, join the mating surface of the packings at the upper and lower case fit in portion.
  20.  
  21. Install the upper and lower case attaching clips.
  22.  
  23. Install the cooling unit to the dash assembly.
  24.  
  25. Install the duct to the passenger's side.
  26.  
  27. Install the heater unit.
  28.  
  29. Tighten the flare nuts at each connection of the inlet and outlet pipes.
  30.  
  31. Charge the air conditioning system. Refer to General Information & Maintenance .
  32.  
  33. Connect the battery.
