REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



240 Z Models

See Figure 1

  1. Remove the heater air duct which passes behind the instruments.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the rear of the speedometer.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wing nuts and washers which retain the speedometer from behind.
  6.  
  7. Pull the speedometer down slightly, then unfasten the electrical connector and remove the meter.
  8.

If removing the speedometer, remove the speedometer cable.

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedures.

260 Z and 280 Z Models

See Figure 1

  1. Refer to the Tachometer removal and installation procedures in this section, and remove the tachometer.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the rear of the speedometer.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the trip meter reset cable, going in through the tachometer opening.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the two retaining screws for the speedometer. Disconnect the resistor lead wire from the connector while under the instrument panel.
  8.  
  9. Pull the speedometer out slightly, disconnect the instrument harness connector and remove the speedometer.
  10.  
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedures.
