  1. Check the No. 21 METER (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box before testing.
  2.  
  3. Check for any diagnostic trouble codes.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  6.  
  7. Access the fuel pump assembly. For additional information, refer to the following section, --Fuel Pump, Removal and Installation.-
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the fuel pump wiring harness.
  10.  
  11. Measure the voltage between fuel pump assembly connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 with the ignition switch to ON (II). There should be battery voltage.
  12.  
  13. If there is no voltage, check for a short in the yellow/black wire to ground. If there is voltage, proceed to the next step.
  14.  
  15. Remove the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank. For additional information, refer to the following section, --Fuel Pump, Removal and Installation.-

  17. Measure the resistance between fuel tank unit 5P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 with the float at the following positions:

    E (EMPTY): 880-790 ohms
     
    LOW (LOW FUEL INDICATOR): 578.5-712.3 ohms
     
    1 / 2 (HALF FULL): 215.4-225.4 ohms
     
    F (FULL) positions: 19-21 ohms

  19. If the resistance is not within specifications, replace the fuel level sending unit.
