Clearing DTCs

The PCM Reset function allows the technician to command the scan tool to clear all emissions-related diagnostic information from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Emissions related codes are stored in the PCM until all the OBD II System monitors or components have been tested to satisfy a drive cycle without any other faults occurring. Refer to the OBD II Drive Cycle article in this section for additional information on this subject. The events listed below occur after the OBD II Drive Cycle is completed and the PCM Reset procedure is performed:

  1. The trouble code number total will be cleared
  3. All trouble codes will be cleared
  5. All Freeze Frame data will be cleared
  7. All Oxygen Sensor Test data will be cleared
  9. All OBD II System Monitors will have their status reset
