Ignition Coil Module/Powertrain Control Module (PCM)



Removal & Installation
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Lift vacuum line out from behind the upper support bracket.
  4.  
  5. Unlock and disconnect the 3 or 4 electrical connectors from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
  6.  
  7. Remove the clutch reservoir and relocate.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 3 mounting screws and from the PCM mounting bracket and remove PCM and bracket assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 3 screws from the PCM bracket to PCM.

To install:

  1. Install the PCM bracket and 3 screws to the PCM and tighten to 105 inch lbs. (11.8 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the PCM and bracket assembly and locate the bracket on the tab.
  4.  
  5. Install the 3 mounting screws to the PCM mounting bracket and tighten to 95 inch lbs. (10.7 Nm).
    NOTE
    The electrical connector for the PCM are COLOR Coded.

  6.  
  7. Connect and lock the 3 or 4 electrical connectors to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
  8.  
  9. Relocate and install the clutch reservoir.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.  

Ignition Coil Pack

  1. Remove the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect electrical connector from coil pack.
  4.  
  5. Remove coil pack mounting nuts.
  6.  
  7. Remove coil pack.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Install coil pack on valve cover. Tighten the bolts to 105 ±20 inch lbs. (11.8 Nm)
  2.  
  3. Transfer spark plug cables to new coil pack. The coil pack towers are numbered with the cylinder identification. Be sure the ignition cables snap onto the towers.
  4.  
  5. Install the negative battery cable.
