Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument panel center bezel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the center air duct.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screws that secure the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel.
  8.  
  9. Remove the A/C-heater control from the instrument panel to gain access to the vacuum harness, control cables and wire harness at the rear of the A/C-heater control.
    NOTE
    To aid in reinstallation, note the installed position of the vacuum harness prior to removal.

  10.  
  11. Disconnect the vacuum harness and wire harness from the rear of the A/C-heater control.
    NOTE
    To aid in reinstallation, note the installed positions of the control cables prior to removal.

  12.  
  13. Disconnect the control cables from the mode and temperature control levers at the rear of the A/C-heater control.
  14.  
  15. Remove the A/C-heater control from the vehicle.

To install:


NOTE
Make sure to properly connect the vacuum harness to the A/C-heater control. Failure to properly connect the vacuum harness will cause the heating-A/C system to remain in the Recirculation mode, which will result in higher blower motor noise levels and possible condensation on the inside of the windows.

  1. Properly connect the vacuum harness, control cables and wire harness to the back of the A/C-heater control.
  2.  
  3. Adjust the mode and temperature control cables. Refer to the following Cable Adjustment Procedure.
  4.  
  5. Install the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel. Tighten the screws to 20 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the center air duct.
  8.  
  9. Install the instrument panel center bezel.
