These front wheel drive vehicles are equipped with permanently sealed front wheel bearings. There is no periodic lubrication or maintenance recommended for these units.
Removal & Installation
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cable
Push in the outer end of the halfshaft to disengage the splines from the hub splines.
Four hub/bearing bolts from the rear of the knuckle
- Clean all mating and mounting surfaces prior to installation to prevent damage.
Install or connect the following:
Hub/bearing onto the halfshaft stub shaft and into the knuckle until it is squarely seated on the face of the knuckle.
Have an assistant apply the brakes, install the washer, and hub nut. Tighten the nut to 180 ft. lbs. (244 Nm).
Spring washer , new hub nut and cotter pin
- Check and adjust the brake fluid and brakes.
- Align the vehicle.
