Adjustment

These front wheel drive vehicles are equipped with permanently sealed rear wheel bearings. There is no periodic lubrication or maintenance recommended for these units.

Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheel

  4.
  5. If equipped with All Wheel Drive (AWD), remove the cotter pin, nut and spring washer. Have someone apply the brake pedal and remove the hub nut.

    Brake caliper and rotor

Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) connector from the spare tire mounting support

Two sensor cable routing clips along the toe link

Sensor cable from the bracket on the brake support

Loosen but do not remove the hub/bearing retaining bolts. Once loosened, push the bolts against the rear of the hub to keep the brake support in place when the hub is removed.

Hub and thread the WSS cable through the hole in the brake support plate as you remove the hub

Place the hub/bearing through the brake support onto the knuckle and align the bolt mounting holes with bolts and place the WSS head at the bottom.

Four hub/bearing bolts and tighten to 60 ft. lbs. (81 Nm)

Sensor cable onto the bracket on the brake support and route the cable

Two sensor cable routing clips along the toe link

WSS connector to the spare tire mounting support

    Brake caliper and rotor
