NOTE
The manufacturer refers to the combination manifold as the exhaust Maniverter.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Remove the radiator close out panel.
  4.
  5. Remove the radiator closure panel crossmember.
  6.
  7. Remove the radiator cooling fan assembly.
  8.
  9. Loosen the oil dipstick tube retaining bolt and position the oil dipstick tube and the dipstick out of the way.
  10.
  11. Disconnect the upstream oxygen sensor harness connector.
  12.
  13. Disconnect the downstream oxygen sensor harness connector.
  14.
  15. Remove the 3 upper heat shield retainers, then remove the upper heat shield.
  16.
  17. Remove the lower exhaust manifold crossover pipe retaining bolts.
  18.
  19. Remove the combination manifold/exhaust maniverter retaining bolts.
  20.
  21. Remove the combination manifold/exhaust maniverter.
  22.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.
  3. Starting at the center and working outward, tighten the combination manifold/exhaust maniverter retaining bolts to 200 inch lbs. (23 Nm).
  4.
  5. Tighten the lower exhaust manifold crossover pipe bolts to 275 inch lbs. (31 Nm).
  6.

NOTE
The manufacturer refers to the combination manifold as the exhaust Maniverter.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.
  5. Disconnect the upstream oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  6.
  7. Disconnect the downstream oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  8.
  9. Remove the rear combination manifold/maniverter heat shield fasteners, and remove the rear heat shield.
  10.
  11. Remove the lower exhaust maniverter-to-crossunder pipe bolts.
  12.
  13. Remove the exhaust manifold inlet flange retaining fasteners and disconnect the exhaust system hangers from the pipe assembly.
    NOTE
Be careful when removing the rear exhaust combination manifold/maniverter fasteners. They may be locked onto the studs in the cylinder head.

  14.
  15. Remove the rear exhaust combination manifold/maniverter fasteners.
  16.
  17. Remove the rear exhaust combination manifold/maniverter.
  18.

To install:

  1. Clean gasket surfaces.
  2.
  3. Replace any damaged studs, or reinstall any studs that came out during removal. Tighten the studs to 20 inch lbs.
  4.
  5. Position the combination manifold/maniverter and new gasket on the studs in the cylinder head. Starting at the center and working outward, tighten the rear combination manifold/maniverter fasteners to 200 inch lbs. (23 Nm).
  6.
  7. Install the exhaust system. Connect the exhaust system hangers from the pipe assembly and install the three exhaust manifold flange retaining fasteners. Tighten the fasteners to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  8.
  9. Install the rear combination manifold/maniverter heat shield, and install the heat shield fasteners. Tighten the heat shield bolts to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  10.
  11. Install the lower exhaust maniverter-to-crossunder pipe bolts. Tighten to 250 inch lbs. (28 Nm).
  12.
  13. If installing a new combination manifold/maniverter, transfer the existing oxygen sensors from the original maniverter.
  14.
  15. Connect the downstream oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  16.
  17. Connect the upstream oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  18.
  19. Lower the vehicle.
  20.
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
