Possible Causes:



TR switch circuit is or shorted to ground
 
TR switch circuit is shorted to another PRNDL circuit
 
TR switch is damaged or out of adjustment
 
PCM has failed

TFT Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

Possible Causes:



Inspect the wiring for poor electrical connections at the PCM. Inspect the wiring for poor electrical connections at the transmission 20-way connector. Look for the following conditions:

A bent terminal
 
A backed out terminal
 
A damaged terminal
 
Poor terminal tension
 
A chafed wire
 
Moisture Intrusion
 

Test the TFT sensor at various temperature levels to evaluate the possibility of a skewed (mis-scaled) sensor. Refer to the Temperature vs Resistance table.When diagnosing for an intermittent short or open, massage the wiring harness while watching the test equipment for a change.Inspect the transmission 20-way connector for transmission fluid.

TFT Sensor Signal Range/Performance (4T65-E)

Possible Causes:



ATF fluid level too low or the fluid is contaminated or burnt
 
TFT sensor is contaminated, damaged or "skewed"
 
PCM has failed

TFT Sensor Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



TFT sensor signal circuit is shorted to sensor or chassis ground
 
TFT sensor is damaged or has failed (it may be shorted)
 
PCM has failed

Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



Inspect the wiring for poor electrical connections at the PCM. Inspect the wiring for poor electrical connections at the transmission 20-way connector. Look for the following conditions:

A bent terminal
 
A backed out terminal
 
A damaged terminal
 
Poor terminal tension
 
Moisture Intrusion
 

When diagnosing for an intermittent open, massage the wiring harness while watching the test equipment for a change.Test the TFT sensor at various temperature levels to evaluate the possibility of a skewed (mis-scaled) sensor. Refer to the Temperature vs Resistance table.

Possible Causes:



Check for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) in circuits 1230 and 1231. EMI may be induced if the harness is routed along the spark plug wires.
 
Inspect the wiring at the PCM, transmission 20-way connector, ISS 2-way connector and all other circuit connecting points for the following conditions:

A bent terminal
 
A backed out terminal
 
A damaged terminal
 
Poor terminal tension
 
A chafed wire
 
A broken wire inside the insulation

Corrosion

Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit Intermittent Low Voltage

Possible Causes:

The IAT sensor indicates the temperature of the ambient air entering the throttle body. The scan tool displays the IAT as volts and temperature The IAT temperature should be nearly the same as the temperature of the outside air. The IAT temperature should rise gradually as the engine warms up and the underhood temperature increases. An intermittent short to ground in the IAT sensor signal circuit could result in a DTC P1112. If a low IAT voltage reading is present, additional sensor circuit voltage codes could be set. Refer to any non-intermittent DTCs that are set. Also a sensor may become skewed or mis-scaled. The Temperature vs. Resistance Value Table will help to detect a skewed sensor. Refer to Temperature vs Resistance . An intermittent may be caused by any of the following conditions:



A poor connection
 
Rubbed through wire insulation
 
A broken wire inside the insulation

Possible Causes:



ECT sensor signal circuit shorted to ground (intermittent fault)

Perform the Crankshaft System variation "learn" procedure
 
If the Scan Tool indicates that DTC P1336 ran and passed, the CKP system variation "learn" procedure is complete. If not, look for other codes. If no codes are set, repeat the test procedure.
