Stabilizer Bar (Sway Bar) & Links

Removal & Installation



  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Remove the stabilizer shaft link bolts, nut, retainer and insulator from the stabilizer shaft bracket.
  6.  
  7. Remove the link bolt, then bend the open end of the link downward.
  8.  
  9. Remove the stabilizer shaft and insulators.
  10.

To install:

  1. Install the stabilizer shaft and insulators. Install the insulator into link with slit rearward.
  2.  
  3. Install the link by bending upward to close around insulator, then install the install the link bolt.
  4.  
  5. Install the link insulator, retainers, support bolt and nut.
  6.  
  7. Install the wheel and tire assemblies, then carefully lower the vehicle. Tighten the wheel lug nuts to 100 ft. lbs. (136 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Tighten the link nut to 13 ft. lbs. (17 Nm) and the link bolt to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).

Removal & Installation
  1. Unfasten the retaining bolt and nut.
  2.  
  3. Remove the stabilizer shaft mounting bracket bolts and bracket.
  4.  

To install:

  1. Install the bracket and bolts.
  2.  
  3. Install the bolt and nut.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the bracket bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (18 Nm) and the nut to 35 ft. lbs. (47 Nm).
