To prevent damaging the electrical systems, make sure the ignition key is in the OFF position when disconnecting or reconnecting the negative battery cable.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable to avoid possible fuel discharge if an accidental attempt is made to start the engine.
  2.
  3. Loosen the fuel filler cap to relieve fuel tank vapor pressure.
  4.
  5. If necessary for access, remove the fuel injector sight shield, then remove the fuel pressure connection cap.
  6.
  7. Wrap a shop towel around the fuel pressure connection fittings while connecting the gauge to prevent fuel spillage.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable to avoid possible fuel discharge if an accidental attempt is made to start the engine.
  2.
  3. Remove the fuel tank cap to relieve tank pressure. Do not tighten until the service procedure has been completed.
  4.
  5. Connect a fuel pressure gauge with bleed valve to the fuel pressure test port. Wrap a shop towel around the fitting while connecting the gauge to catch any spilled fuel.
  6.
  7. Install the bleed hose into an approved container and open the valve to bleed off the fuel system pressure.
  8.
  9. Drain any fuel remaining in the gauge into an approved container.
    CAUTION
There may still be residual fuel in the system, and a small amount of fuel may be released when servicing fuel lines or connections. In order to reduce the chance of personal injury, cover the fuel line fittings with a shop towel before disconnecting to catch any fuel that may leak out.
