Removal & Installation



Washer Pump & Reservoir

Specific to:

Buick LeSabre 1986-1995

Buick Park Avenue 1996-1999

Oldsmobile 88 1992-1995

Oldsmobile Delta 88 1986-1988

Pontiac Bonneville 1987-1995

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain or siphon the washer solvent from the reservoir.
  4.  
  5. For 1986-91 vehicles, remove the brace.
  6.  
  7. Unfasten the reservoir screws.
  8.  
  9. Detach the electrical connectors and washer hose.
  10.  
  11. If necessary, remove the reservoir from the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Remove the washer pump motor from the reservoir.
  14.

To install:

  1. Install the washer pump motor on the reservoir. Make sure the pump is fully seated in the reservoir gasket.
  2.  
  3. Position the reservoir in the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Attach the electrical connectors and washer hose.
  6.  
  7. Install the reservoir retaining screws.
  8.  
  9. Install the brace.
  10.  
  11. Fill the reservoir with washer solvent.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable, then check for proper washer pump operation.
  14.

Buick Park Avenue 1996-1999

Oldsmobile 88 1996-1999

Oldsmobile LSS 1996-1999

Pontiac Bonneville 1996-1999

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain or siphon the washer solvent from the reservoir.
  4.  
  5. Detach the electrical connectors from the washer.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the hose from the washer pump.
  8.  
  9. Loosen the nut at the bottom of the washer reservoir.
  10.  
  11. Unfasten the 2 nuts, then remove the washer solvent reservoir.
  12.  
  13. Remove the washer pump from the container.
  14.  
  15. If necessary, remove the solvent lever sensor switch from the washer solvent container.

To install:

  1. Install the solvent level sensor switch in the washer solvent container. The tab on the solvent level sender switch must be lined up with the slot in the hole.
  2.  
  3. Install the washer pump into the reservoir, making sure the pump is pushed all the way into the container seal.
  4.  
  5. Install the washer solvent reservoir and secure with the 3 nuts. Tighten the nuts to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Attach the electrical connectors to the solvent level sensor and washer pump.
  8.  
  9. Connect the hose to the washer pump.
  10.  
  11. Fill the reservoir with washer solvent.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable, then check for proper washer pump operation.
  14.
