Hydraulic System Bleeding



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE
    If working near and/or around the SRS system and components, be sure to disable the SRS system. After disabling the system wait three minutes or more before servicing the vehicle. Disconnect the air bag module connector.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Fill the reservoir with the proper grade and type fluid. Be sure to check the reservoir during the procedure to ensure that it is within fill specifications.

  7. Connect a transparent tube to the air bleeder valve.
  8.  
  9. Fully depress and release the clutch pedal several times.
  10.  
  11. While holding the clutch pedal in the depressed position, open the air bleeder valve to release air.
  12.  
  13. Close the bleeder valve and then release the clutch pedal.
  14.  
  15. Repeat until brake fluid flows from the air bleeder valve without air bubbles.
  16.  
  17. Repeat this procedure as required.
  18.  
  19. Fill the master cylinder to the correct level with brake fluid.
  20.  
  21. Check the system for leaks.
